Petra Barthel
Petra Barthel (* 1951 in Erfurt ) is a German actress , author and voice actress .
Life
Petra Barthel grew up in Erfurt , graduated from the Humboldt School there and then trained at the State Drama School in Rostock .
Theater engagements in the GDR followed . First contracts led Barthel to Magdeburg and Erfurt as well as Frankfurt (Oder) . At the Volksbühne in East Berlin she was directed by Hans-Dieter Meves in Tibor Déry's fictional report on an American pop festival . She also played in Berndt Rennes' Euripides production Die Frauen von Troja (1980) and Wolfgang Engels Hedda Gabler (1984) based on Henrik Ibsen . In her theater career she worked with the directors Fritz Marquardt and Heiner Müller . Parallel to her stage work, the actress also appeared on East German television from the late 1970s. These include the part of Margret in Jens-Peter Proll's television play Draußen im Heidedorf (1980) after Theodor Storm and guest roles in the episode Tödliche Illusion (1979) in the crime film series Polizeiruf 110 and in the crime thriller Kalter Engel ( 1986), which was originally also for the police call Series was planned.
In 1990 Barthel's first novel The Twelfth Dress Above the Thirteenth was published . In 1992 her play Queentett was performed in the Berlin Big Bang Theater (director: Paula Mader).
After reunification, Barthel continued her theater work, which she took to the Theater im Turm in Frankfurt in 1991/92 - Antonius and Cleopatra , directed by Jan Lauwers - and to the Deutsche Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, where she performed in Carolyn Carlson's dance theater in 1993 Commedia recited Dante Verses in several languages alongside Rainer Strecker and Miriam Fiodeponti .
Barthel has been working as a voice actress in film since the early 1990s. So she spoke z. B. Nicole Kidman (including Batman Forever , Moulin Rouge ! , The Hours - From Eternity to Eternity ) , Julianne Moore (including Nine Months , Hannibal , Children of Men ) or Uma Thurman (including Pulp Fiction , Kill Bill - Volume 1 , Kill Bill - Volume 2 ) in the German setting of their films. She was also cast for radio plays and audio books. For her performance in the Kidman film Die Dolmetscherin (2005) she was nominated in 2006 for the German Dubbing Award in the category Outstanding Female Dubbing .
From 2005 to 2007 Barthel continued her theatrical work under the direction of Annegret Hahn at the Thalia Theater in Halle , where she appeared as a member of the choir in a production of Paradise Lost based on John Milton .
Petra Barthel lives in Berlin . She was married to the actor Berndt Renne and has their son Max with him. The child actor Bruno Renne is her grandchild.
