Lisa Banes
Lisa Banes (born July 9, 1955 in Chagrin Falls , Ohio , † June 14, 2021 in New York City , New York ) was an American film, television and theater actress . In 1981 she won a Theater World Award for her performance in Looking Back in Anger . She was known for her television series roles, Doreen Morrison in The Cases of Rosie O'Neill and Mayor Anita Massengil in Son of the Beach .
Career
Banes graduated from Juilliard School . She made her film debut in 1980 as Allison Porter in the television film Blick zurück im Zorn . Since then she has appeared in numerous film and television productions. In the film sector, she played Bonnie in Roger Donaldson's comedy Cocktail (1988), prosecutor Marla Tolbert in Michael Switzer's drama Nobody Heard Scream (1994), Chippy McDuffy in Pumpkin (2002), Flora in Tom Shadyac's mystery film In the sign of the dragonfly (2002), the Priscilla in Amy Waddell's horror drama Brothel (2008) and the headmistress Higgins in Savage Steve Holland's comedy Naturally Blond 3 - Now It Goes Double Up (2009).
TV series she has appeared in include China Beach (1989), The Cases of Rosie O'Neill (1990-1992), in which she played Doreen Morrison, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1994), Roseanne (1994), Murder is Her Hobby (1995), Michael Hayes - For Law and Justice (1998), Legacy (1999), Son of the Beach (2000-2001), in which she plays Mayor Anita Massengil, Girls Club (2002 ), King of Queens (2004), Six Feet Under (2005), Perception (2012) and Royal Pains (2010–2012).
As a stage actress she appeared several times on Broadway , so from 1988 to 1990 as Cassie Cooper in Neil Simon's Rumors , 1995 as Lady Croom in Tom Stoppard's Arcadia , 1998 as Margaret Lord in High Society , 2009 as Miss Darling in Samson Raphaelsons Accent on Youth with David Hyde Pierce and in 2010 as Liz Essendine at the side of Victor Garber in the new edition of Noël Cowards Present Laughter .
Private
Lisa Banes had been married to former Wall Street Journal journalist Kathryn Kranhold since 2017 . Banes was seriously injured by a scooter while walking in New York on June 4, 2021. Ten days later, at the age of 65, she died of the consequences of the accident.
