Samson Raphaelson

Samson Raphaelson (born March 30, 1896 in New York City , New York , † July 16, 1983 ibid) was an American screenwriter .

Life

Raphaelson studied at the University of Illinois , where he initially worked as an English teacher. He later worked in the advertising industry, as a journalist and photographer. After a play by him became the template for the first sound film, his career as a screenwriter began. Particularly in the collaboration with the director Ernst Lubitsch , very successful comedies were created, but also the thriller Suspicion , directed by Alfred Hitchcock . In 1977 he was awarded the Laurel Award for Screen Writing Achievement from the Writers Guild of America .
