David Hyde Pierce
David Hyde Pierce (born April 3, 1959 in Saratoga Springs , New York ) is an American actor .
Career
Pierce was best known for the television series Frasier , in which he played the role of Dr. Niles Crane embodied. For this role, he was nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor 11 times in a row . He won the award four times (1995, 1998, 1999 and 2004). Furthermore, from 1995 to 2004 he was nominated a total of nineteen times for the Screen Actors Guild Award in various categories, making him one of the most thoughtful people in the television categories of the award after Edie Falco and Julianna Margulies . In 1996 he won it alone and in 2000 with the rest of the ensemble.
His voice can be heard in numerous films such as Das große Krabbeln , The Treasure Planet and Hellboy as well as in the animated series The Simpsons as Cecil Terwilliger. In the latter, after Frasier , he was cast again as a brother couple together with Kelsey Grammer , who speaks the Tingeltangel Bob here.
After Frasier's production closed, Hyde Pierce took on a Broadway role as "the not-so-brave" Sir Robin opposite Tim Curry and Hank Azaria in the musical Spamalot , which opened in February 2005 at New York's Shubert Theater. Hyde Pierce won the 2007 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for the role of Lieutenant Frank Cioffi in the Broadway musical Curtains .
He is married to television writer, director and producer Brian Hargrove . Since his father suffered from Alzheimer's disease , David Hyde Pierce is committed to the research and treatment of the disease. He supports the Alzheimer's Association .
