Some critics saw the film as a satire on the conditions in US companies in the 1990s. The plot was certified to have some weaknesses, the portrayal of Jack Nicholson was praised.

James Berardinelli praised the "believable" portrayal of Jack Nicholson and the portrayals of Michelle Pfeiffer, James Spader, Kate Nelligan, Richard Jenkins, Eileen Atkins and Christopher Plummer on ReelViews . He found the second half of the film "disappointing".

The lexicon of international films judged: “An ironic-resigned comment on the management of the 90s, which symbolizes the gradual change of the editor (bitten by a wolf in an accident) to genre-known motifs of the horror film. Not entirely convincing, but unconventional and in terms of acting and style on a remarkable level. "
