Om Puri
Om Puri ( Hindi ओम पुरी IAST Om Purī ; born October 18, 1950 in Ambala , Haryana ; † January 6, 2017 in Andheri , Mumbai ) was an Indian film actor who was involved in both Indian and British and American film productions.
Life
Om Puri graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India , the Pune State Drama School . He was also graduating from the prestigious National School of Drama with Naseeruddin Shah in 1973 . Along with Shah, Shabana Azmi , Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Smita Patil, he belongs to the group of actors of the New Indian Cinema of the 1970s and 1980s, who saw themselves as actors rather than film stars and who were more involved in artistically ambitious film projects. Om Puri died of a heart attack on January 6, 2017.
With a few exceptions, it was spoken in German by Uli Krohm .

Awards
Om Puri won a National Film Award for Best Actor in 1982 and 1984, and in 1980 a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor . In July 2004 he was awarded the Order of the British Empire OBE for his work in English language films .
