Kulbhushan Kharbanda
Kulbhushan Kharbanda ( Hindi कुलभूषण खरबंदा Kulbhūṣaṇ Kharbandā ; born October 21, 1944 in Hasan Abdal , Punjab , British India ) is an Indian film actor .
Life
Kulbhushan Kharbanda graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India , the state drama school in Pune, with an acting degree . He made his film debut in 1974 in Jadu Ka Shankh . Along with Naseeruddin Shah , Shabana Azmi , Om Puri and Smita Patil, he belongs to the group of actors of the New Indian Cinema of the 1970s and 1980s who were also involved in artistically ambitious film projects. With these together he played Shyam Benegals in several films .
Kharbanda appeared in all three films of Deepa Mehta's elements trilogy ( Fire (1996), Earth (1998) and Water (2005)). He has also played in mainstream productions since the 1980s. He had his bald head shaved for his role as the villain Shakal in Ramesh Sippy's Shaan (1980). He was also seen in the overseas successful films Monsoon Wedding and Lagaan (here as Raja ).
