Brothers is a Bollywood drama film directed by Karan Malhotra and starring Akshay Kumar , Sidharth Malhotra and Jackie Shroff and produced by Dharma Productions , the production company of Karan Johar. The film is an official remake of the American film Warrior .

The film begins in media that show up street fighting in Mumbai. Sports director Peter Braganza expresses his desire to make street fighting a legal sport and decides to open a league called "Right 2 Fight" (R2F). Meanwhile, Garson "Gary" Fernandes, a recovering alcoholic and former MMA rehabilitation specialist , is released from custody and his younger son Monty comes to pick him up. Monty looks tense when his father asks about his older son David and brings him home. At home, Gary protects all the belongings of his wife Maria, who died many years ago. David, now a physics teacher, has kidney disease. Unable to get money from the bank and other sources, he organizes money through street fights. This puts pressure on his wife, Jenny, because she is worried about David. Meanwhile, Gary, missing his wife Maria, begins hallucinating about her. Gary then tries to meet David, but the latter angrily throws Monty and Gary out of his house.

Monty is then apparently Gary's illegitimate child. Still, Maria loved Monty like David. The two brothers had a close, loving relationship until David was 18 and Monty was 15. On the night of Monty's 15th birthday, Gary came home drunk and apologized to Maria for the destruction of the family, but mentions his lover's name Sarah instead of Maria. An angry Maria confronts Gary about it. In a drunk state, Gary meets Maria, who is injured and dies. An angry David pushes Gary aside. When Monty approaches Maria, David angrily pushes him away, holding his father and brother responsible for his mother's death. This creates a rift between Gary, Monty and David.

David later loses his job at school when principal Shobhit Desai learns about David's involvement in street fighting. Monty, who wants to become a fighter, is then introduced to Suleiman Pasha, a combat agent. Suleiman fixes a match with Mustafa in which Monty is defeated. This makes Gary angry and Monty decides a rematch with Mustafa, where Monty Mustafa is defeated and Peter declares him a selected fighter for R2F. The fight will be recorded and uploaded to YouTube and Monty will soon become an internet sensation. Monty is trained to be an R2F champion. In the meantime, David also decides to be a full-time fighter and Jenny encourages him to do so. Suleiman trains David and fixes a match while Monty celebrates his win in a bar. David is soon victorious in battle. R2F is soon to become a sensation and fighters from all over the world are showing their interest in the league. Eventually the brothers David and Monty reach the finals.

Feeling guilty, Gary leaves the arena thinking he is responsible for the conflict between the brothers. Pasha advises David not to get in the way of his relationship with Monty. The game begins. Both David and Monty fought hard, but in the end David Monty broke his shoulder. He immediately shows his concern for his younger brother, but Pasha tells him to keep fighting and not worry about Monty's arm. Gary rushes to David and apologizes for his mistakes. He asks David not to take his anger away from Monty and reminds him that Monty is his brother. David, already in conflict, turns to Monty and instead introduces himself to a young Monty. Monty, on the other hand, agrees to continue the match despite a broken shoulder and blurred vision. The game goes on. David overpowers Monty again. While David holds Monty, he asks Monty to stop fighting. Monty, in turn, says that David was only thinking of himself when he left Monty in anger after Maria died and asked him to keep striking. Guilt and grief overwhelmed David; moved to tears, he apologizes. Monty gives up and lets David win the tournament. Monty is reconciled with David and he takes Monty in his arms.
