Sam O'Steen

Sam O'Steen (born November 6, 1923 in Arkansas , † October 11, 2000 in Atlantic City , New Jersey ) was an American film editor and film director .

Life

He began his career in the film business as an assistant editor in the 1950s. 1966 began with the film Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? his successful collaboration with director Mike Nichols . O'Steen was nominated for an Oscar for this work . In 1968 he worked with Roman Polański for the first time . Sam O'Steen was in charge of editing Rosemary's Baby . Their collaboration repeated six years later at Chinatown . 1976 staged O'Steen a continuation of Rosemary's Baby , entitled Look What's Happened to Rosemary's Baby . He made his debut as a director in 1973 with the film A Brand New Life .

Sam O'Steen was married and had four daughters.

In 1969 he won the BAFTA Film Award for the final exam . He was nominated for an Oscar three times.
