Amityville II - The Possession (original title Amityville II: The Possession ) is a horror film from 1982 by Damiano Damiani . It is the successor to the Amityville Horror published in 1979 . The plot relates to the previous story, the murder of Ronald DeFeo of his family.

action

The Italian-American Montelli family moves into a large house in the sleepy coastal town of Amityville . At first it seems like the fulfillment of their dreams until they discover a strange tunnel behind the wooden wall in the basement and the first problems arise. Little did the newcomers know that there is an invisible demonic creature hiding there . At night this penetrates the tunnel and spreads fear and horror. Doors close as if by magic, mirrors splinter, and devilish messages appear on the walls in the children's room. The Montellis can't figure out what happened, and violent arguments between family members are becoming more and more frequent. The 17-year-old son Sonny is changing and withdrawing more and more.

Finally, Mother Dolores asks the Father for a consultation in the house. When he finishes and returns to his car, he finds a completely torn apart Bible in the passenger seat . Only shortly afterwards there is another incident: Sonny and his sister get closer physically. Patricia confesses this in church. When Father Adamsky is visiting again to bless the house, blood suddenly pours out of his Aspergillus . Now he recognizes the seriousness of the situation and asks his superiors to be allowed to carry out an exorcism , but is put off for the time being.

A few days later, in a thunderstorm night, the dark power from the tunnel takes possession of Sonny, who picks up a rifle and shoots the entire family. When he is arrested by the police, he protests his innocence. The case did not let go of the father, and with the help of a research in the city archives he found out that the house was built on a former Indian cemetery. Rumor has it that there is a curse on the property. Now he is convinced of Sonny's innocence and helps him to escape. Both of them make their way to the house separately. When Adamsky enters the empty building through the basement entrance, liters of blood run down the walls. In the attic he meets Sonny and performs the exorcism on him. This can be freed from the curse, but the demon now drives into the body of Father Adamsky.

criticism

“A sequel to Amityville Horror : routinely staged, but at a noticeably lower level than its predecessor. An evil spirit drives into a young man and drives him to massacre his relatives. Occasionally atmospherically dense, the film increasingly loses itself in superficial horror-trick effects. "

Award

Rutanya Alda was nominated in 1983 for the Golden Raspberry in the category of Worst Supporting Actress.
