action

In the Amityville horror house on Long Island , New York , an exorcism is carried out by six priests under the direction of Father Manfred . A ghost escapes and enters a floor lamp. He switched off father Kibbler and left him unconscious. However, Manfred believes that all spirits have now been driven out.

A few days later, all of the home's furnishings are sold at a home flea market. The floor lamp is sold to Helen Royce, who visits the flea market with her best friend Rhona. Helen wants to give the inexpensive lamp to her sister Alice on her birthday as part of a kind of junk gift tradition. However, it cuts itself when cleaning. She sends the lamp to her sister, but dies shortly after of a tetanus infection.

A week later, Alice receives her present. She recently moved to California and lives with her daughter Nancy and their three children in a three-story house near the beach. When they try out the lamp, the animals in the house behave strangely. Shortly afterwards, the lamp messes up the electrical devices and even kills the parrot with the help of a toaster. In addition, the friend of one of the daughters cuts off his hand in the kitchen waste shredder .

When the plumber tries to fix the sink, the lamp also kills him and also makes his car disappear. One of the daughters, the silent Jessica, suspects that her father's ghost is in the lamp.

Father Kibbler finally learns of the accidents and drives with father Manfred to the family, where the police are already investigating the case. In a murderous showdown, the family succeeds in destroying the lamp after the exorcism could not be carried out. The family now thinks they have destroyed the spirit. But the dead plumber is still in the house. In addition, the ghost travels from the remains of the lamp to the family cat.

Reviews

“Solid horror film with appropriate shock effects. The now fourth part of the horror series about the well-known possessed house on the east coast of the USA relocates the machinations of evil to California. At this video premiere, director Sandor Stern ('Glitz - Die Macht des Geldes') skilfully juggles, if not always original, with quotes (e.g. 'The Exorcist') and set pieces from the genre. The result should be able to build on the successes of earlier 'Amityville' horrors. "
