Moses Gunn

Moses Gunn (born October 2, 1929 in St. Louis , Missouri , † December 16, 1993 in Guilford , Connecticut ) was an American actor .

life and career

Gunn began his career as a stage actor, his first Broadway appearance was Jean Genet's The Blacks in 1962. In the 1960s, the African-American performer was a co-founder of the Negro Ensemble Company, a theater company that focuses on the introduction of African-American themes specialized in theater. In 1976 he was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actor for The Poison Tree .

Gunn was best known for the role of Bumpy Jonas in the first two Shaft films. He also played the role of Joe Kagan in Our Little Farm . In the fantasy film The Neverending Story, based on the book of the same name by Michael Ende , produced in West Germany , he played the role of the centaur Cairon. In total he was seen in around 70 film and television productions, mainly as a guest actor in various series.

Gunn died in December 1993 at the age of 64 as a result of an asthma attack . From 1966 until his death he was married to Gwendolyn Mumma Landes, the couple had two children.
