Hercules ( English Hercules: The Animated Series ) is an animated series by the Walt Disney Company from 1998 and 1999. The series is based on the Disney film Hercules from 1997 and the subsequent video production Hercules: Zero to Hero from 1998, which as Pilot film can be viewed.
content
The series is about the youth of the demigod and hero in training, Hercules. This visits the Prometheus Academy . Hercules also struggles with the usual problems of a teenager, although he always takes action when fiends do themselves the honor. Above all his evil uncle Hades, the god of the underworld, turns out to be a recurring adversary. He finds support from his best friends, Cassandra and Icarus.
The plot runs parallel to the first half of the film, and much relates to the film and later events. Most of the figures come from Greek mythology .
main characters
- Hercules : The young demigod is the son of Zeus . Although he is a naive clumsy man, he has a keen sense of justice and bravery. He attends the Prometheus Academy and is a hero in training .
- Cassandra : She is a seer and of a pessimistic and serious mind. She comments sarcastically and coolly on her predictions, mostly bad ones, as well as Icarus' advances.
- Icarus : Once he flew too close to the sun with his father's wax wings, whereupon he suffered brain damage and fell. Today he is therefore a crazy but happy contemporary. He worships Cassandra, but she doesn't want to know anything about it. His father Daedalus leads the handicraft classes at the academy.
- Adonis : Adonis is the self-loving and arrogant Prince of Thrace and from a wealthy family. He constantly tries to exploit this supposedly higher position to his advantage and towards his classmates. The handsome boy is alternately in a relationship with Helen of Troy .
- Superba (in the original: Tempest): She is an attractive Amazon and the daughter of Hippolyte . Her mother sent the disgruntled Superba to the academy. She is easily irritable and at times choleric, but basically also sensitive and romantic.
- Philoctetes : He is a satyr and experienced hero trainer, which is why he now also leads the hero training at Hercules.
- Helena : Helen of Troy is the most popular girl in the school. She is extremely attractive, nice and helpful and in a relationship with Adonis.
Furthermore, there are other recurring characters, especially the Greek gods such as Zeus , Hades , Ares , Aphrodite , Poseidon and Hermes .
