Diedrich Bader (born December 24, 1966 in Alexandria , Virginia ) is an American actor .

Life

Diedrich Bader grew up in Paris ( France ) from the age of two . Here he developed his love for slapstick legends like Charlie Chaplin and the desire to become an actor himself. Bader returned to the United States for high school . He then studied acting at the North Carolina School of the Arts . During the vacation, he was chosen by a casting agent for a small role in a pilot that never aired . Bader moved to Los Angeles and auditioned for a variety of roles. He got his first role in 1989 in the series Spaceship Enterprise - The Next Century . This was followed by guest roles in the comedy series Cheers , 21 Jump Street , The Prince of Bel-Air , Frasier and Monk .

He got his first leading role in 1993 thanks to the director Penelope Spheeris in the short-lived sitcom Danger Theater . Shortly thereafter, the first leading role in a movie followed. He played the role of Jethro in the film adaptation of the television series The Beverly Hillbillies Are On The Go! . Diedrich Bader had his greatest success from 1995 in the role of Oswald Lee Harvey on the sitcom Drew Carey Show . The long-lived series reached nine seasons and 233 episodes by the time it was discontinued in 2004. The collaboration with Ryan Stiles was particularly close . Immediately following the Drew Carey Show , Bader got a leading role alongside John Goodman , Amy Smart and Edward Asner in the short-lived sitcom Center of the Universe . Another leading role followed in the comedy series Outsourced , which was not continued after one season in 2011, as well as in the only six following sitcom Squad 85 (2012) and in the sitcom Save Me - Not again! . He embodied recurring roles in The Exes , Veep - The Vice President and Better Things . It was not until 2016 that he successfully received a leading role in a longer series with the role of Greg Otto in the sitcom American Housewife .

Because of his distinctive, deep voice, Bader is often cast for speaking roles, mostly as the villain in cartoon series. One of the most famous of these dubbing roles is that of a saber-toothed tiger in the movie Ice Age , as well as in Kings of the Waves and Bolt - A Dog for All Occasions and Olaf in the English dubbing of Asterix and the Vikings . His work as an actor and voice actor includes more than 200 productions

Bader is married to the actress Dulcy Rogers .
