Santa Paws Big Christmas Adventure (Original Title: The Search for Santa Paws ) is a 2010 Canadian family film directed by Robert Vince . Willanyna ( Madison Pettis ) ekes out her stay in an orphanage run by the ruthless Mrs. Stout ( Wendi McLendon-Covey ). After the death of her parents, the little Quinn Lord ( Kaitlyn Maher ) also ends up there. With the appearance of Santa Claus ( Richard Riehle ) on earth and in the Christmas shop of the Hucklebuckle couple ( Bonnie Somerville , John Ducey ), the fate of the two girls takes a wonderful turn.

action

On his birthday of all times, Mr. Stewart, the attorney for Santa Claus' friend Mr. Hucklebuckle from New York , informs Santa that Mr. Hucklebuckle has passed away. His client was always happy to pass Santa Claus' message on to the children of New York. They would have taught him the true meaning of the idea of Christmas and the joy of being there for others. James Huckleberry, who now calls himself Huckle, inherited his grandfather's office building with the Christmas shop. However, one condition is attached to the inheritance. The title deed will only be transferred to him if he manages to run the business at a profit over the Christmas season. Mr. Huckle, who is a chartered accountant, is not enthusiastic. The store is hopelessly old-fashioned. Mr. Stewart doesn't let Huckle's remarks bother him and says he'll be back after Christmas. James could live with his wife Kate in the grandfather's apartment above the shop.

Meanwhile, little Quinn Lord is being brought to Mrs. Stout's orphanage by the caregiver Miss Gibson. It is difficult for the motherly woman to leave the girl with the cold woman. Willanyna, who prefers to be called Will, the oldest girl in the orphanage, explains the rules of the house to Quinn on Miss Stout's orders. So the little girl learns that the leader hates Christmas and takes away any presents from the children, does not decorate the house and particularly abhor any kind of singing. Will introduces Quinn to the other girls: Janie, Mary, Maria, and Taylor. Janie still hopes for a miracle and that her parents are still alive and that they will come for her. Will tells Quinnie that the only way to escape the orphanage is to be adopted. The smaller you are, the bigger it is.

Since Mr. Hucklebuckle is no longer alive, the spirit of Christmas in New York has gotten out of whack, which is why Santa Claus and his dog "Paw" go there. Paw was given to Santa by Mr. Hucklebuckle for his last birthday and, with Miley's help, turned into a living dog. After landing in Central Park with his team of reindeers, Santa sets off on foot with paw. Unfortunate circumstances lead to Santa being hit by a car and robbed by Gus, a homeless man. Gus also robs Santa of his crystal wand, which among other things gives him eternal life. To make matters worse, Santa not only lost his memory in the accident, Paw, who wanted to get help, can't find the way back to him either. When the old man reads the name "Hucklebuckle", the doorbell rings for him, but the memory does not come. His way leads Santa to the shop of the Hucklebuckles, who believe he was sent as Santa Claus by the agency in question. Meanwhile, Paw is still wandering through New York and making the acquaintance of other dogs, whom he only a little later rescues from a dog catcher with the crystal wand he wears around his neck. You want to help him find Santa again.

Meanwhile, in the park, little Jimmy is asked by Santa's reindeer for help, which he enthusiastically assures the animals. In his search for Santa, Paw passes the orphanage and is heard by little Queenie. She decides to hide Paw overnight to help him find Santa the next day. Paw thinks that the orphanage is missing a bit of Christmas atmosphere and changes that with his magic crystal. All girls can understand Paw, only Will not, because only those who firmly believe in Christmas can hear him speak. On the other hand, Will only hears that paw barks. With the help of its crystal, Paw can do a lot more, suddenly the girls' dormitory is beautifully decorated for Christmas and they themselves are wearing pretty clothes. However, Miss Stout, who surprises the children, puts an end to it. They are punished and then she takes his magic crystal from Paw. In the cellar, where Will and Paw are locked up, the miracle happens, the girl can suddenly understand Paw's language.

The Huckles with their lovable shop are now attracting masses of people, even television is paying attention to the small shop with the Christmas atmosphere. In Heaven, however, Mrs. Claus is worried that she has not heard from her husband and so Eli, the upper elf, goes to earth with the elf dog Eddy to look for him. Santa Claus, meanwhile, is no longer able to cope with the exertions without his magic crystal and collapses. Paw, which is also deprived of its crystal, is returned to the stuffed dog and shortly afterwards by Miss Stout in a container that is connected to an incinerator.

Eli runs into Gus in New York and, thanks to his strength, gets him to tell him what happened to Santa. In his magic mirror Eli then sees in which street Paw is and hurries there. At the very last minute, with the help of the children, he can save little Queenie from mortal danger, who has climbed into the container to save Paw from the impending burn. As soon as Paw has his crystal back, it comes back to life.

Now it's time to save Santa. After being taken from the hospital, the first thing he does is get his magic crystal back. Since that alone doesn't help, Paw insists that you give Santa your crystal too, because you don't want to imagine a world without Santa. And indeed Paw's victim helps, Santa regains his strength. But Paw is now a stuffed dog again. He has to go to the big Christmas icicle as quickly as possible, only then can he be saved, says Santa. Immediately the reindeer sleigh sets off there. However, the strength of the icicle is not enough. Santa rolls a tear down his cheek and falls to the floor; a light shines and paw is brought back to life. However, he is now a fully grown dog. “That was the magic of your love for one another and the spirit of Christmas”, Santa's wife is sure. "From today on you will be called 'Santa Paw'", says Santa. And last but not least, little Queenie and Will still end well, they are adopted by the Hucklebucks, who are determined to continue the grandfather's business and are now called Hucklebuckle again. And the orphanage is now run by maternal Miss Gibson.
