Snow Buddies - Adventures in Alaska (Original title: Snow Buddies ) is an American Walt Disney - family film from Robert Vince from 2008. This is the second part of a spin-off film series for the Air Bud series.

action

The golden retriever puppies Rosebud, Budderball, Mudbud, B-Dawg and Buddha go on a discovery hunt one day and cannot resist an ice cream delivery van whose door the driver left open for a short time. As soon as all five of them have got in, the door closes and they go on an unintended journey from their home town of Fernfield in Washington to neighboring Canada . Upon arrival, the puppies meet Shasta, a Siberian Husky puppy whose 11-year-old owner dreams of taking part in a dog sled race. But unfortunately he lacks five more dogs.

The puppies decide to help Shasta to fulfill his owner Adam's dream and to be taught what a sled dog should do and what to watch out for. When Shasta introduces his new sled team to Adam, he is happy about the prospect that his dreams could come true. Adam and his team start to build a new sled that is light enough that puppies can pull it too. However, the older huskies in the place are not impressed and mock the pups. They tell them that Shasta's parents died in a dog sled race last year when the ice broke underneath them and that if they were inexperienced, this could happen very quickly to them.

The next morning the puppies and Adam compete against the opposition of the other participants. They laugh about a boy and puppy wanting to go into a race. But since the rules don't forbid it, Adam is allowed to compete. During the race, last year's winner, Jean George, starts cheating, knocking out one competitor after another. Soon only Adam and Jean George will be left. When the news of an approaching snow storm came, it was too late to stop the race as the drivers had already passed the last checkpoint. The snow storm forces Adam and the pups to take shelter in an igloo provided by an Inuit until the storm subsides. Well rested, they continue the race and soon meet their opponent, Jean George. While running head-to-head with him, Adam's sled tips over and he is injured in the fall. While Adam recovers and takes up the chase, Jean George's dogs get into trouble when they land on the frozen lake and the ice collapses beneath them. Jean George gives up his dogs and moves on, but Adam and the pups start a rescue operation despite Shasta's trauma after the death of his parents. The pups pull the dogs out of the icy waters, but instead of being grateful, Jean George continues the run undeterred, leaving the rescuers behind. Jean Georges, however, did not count on the loyalty of his dogs, because they know what they owe Shasta and the buddies. As a result, they not only run more slowly, they also “strike” just before the finish line, so that Jean George loses the race. While Adam celebrates his victory, the buddies unexpectedly meet their parents, Buddy and Molly, again at the finish. They noticed the disappearance of their children and, with the help of their owners, followed them to Alaska. Here the buddies say goodbye to their new friends Shasta and Adam. All seven dogs return to their hometown by plane and are greeted here by their owners Sam, Bartleby, Billy, Alice, Pete, Henry and Noah, who have been longingly waiting for them. Bartleby can hardly believe it when he learns on the news the next day that a Golden Retriever team has won a sled dog race and that their clumsy budderball is one of them.

Buddy and Molly discuss their pups' achievements and wonder whether their children's thirst for adventure would have ended with it.

criticism

Kino.de assessed: “Talking puppies experience adventures in the Arctic Circle and pull a busy racing sled through the deep snow on their stubby legs faster than all competitors who also operate with lousy tricks in this harmless children's adventure from the Hollywood drawing board. Of course, the little barkers also completely correspond to the trendy images of their viewers, which is why, in addition to the shy and rowdy, the stylish hip-hop wuffi also starts with gold chains. Mild fun for children and yapper friends. "
