Johann Christoph Rosteuscher

Johann Christoph Rosteuscher (* 1657 in Danzig ; † December 12, 1708 in Danzig) was a German Protestant theologian and philologist .

His father Wolfgang Rosteuscher was a professor at the Academic Gymnasium Gdansk . Johann Christoph Rosteuscher attended high school in Danzig and then studied at the University of Wittenberg , where he received his master's degree and adjunct in the philosophical faculty in 1679. Around 1681 he went to the University of Rostock , where, in addition to his studies, he often led theological disputations . From Rostock he makes a trip through Germany, Holland and England.

In 1685 he became professor of logic, metaphysics and ethics at the University of Greifswald . But in the following year he went to Gdansk, where he became a professor at the grammar school and librarian. After his father's death in 1690, he took over his professorship in the Greek language at the Danzig grammar school. In 1695 he moved to the parish office and became a deacon at the Barbarakirche in Gdansk, then in 1699 a deacon at the Marienkirche .

Rosteuscher has published numerous writings.
