Ekkehardt Belle

Ekkehardt "Ekki/Ecki" Belle (born May 18, 1954 in Glehn , Korschenbroich ; died January 31, 2022 in Munich ) was a German voice actor , dubbing director and actor .

biography

Even as a child, Belle appeared in commercials and television films , e.g. alongside Peter Alexander , Theo Lingen and Martin Held . From 1973 he starred in sex films such as Young girls like it hot, Housewives even hotter , Mattress Tango , What schoolgirls are concealing , O's niece and Schoolgirl Report 5 .

He became known to a wide audience through the title role in the ZDF four-part series The Adventures of David Balfour , which was broadcast at Christmas 1978. In 1979 Franz Josef Gottlieb gave him the lead role of Stefan in the sex comedy Sunnyboy and Sugarbaby . In the same year he also played the main role in the ZDF production Merlin . From 1980 to 1986 he appeared in eight Derrick episodes, most recently in the episode Der Fall Weidau . In 1982, Belle stood in front of the camera alongside Martin Held and Gert Fröbe for the TV adaptation of the comedy classic The Robbery of the Sabine Women by Franz and Paul von Schönthan . In 1983 he starred in the Christmas series Nesthäkchen .

By his own account, Belle withdrew from the film business because he no longer felt like cleaning doorknobs for his roles and he valued the security and independence that dubbing roles gave him. After the mid-1980s, there were hardly any film appearances, with the exception of The Blind Spot in 2013 .

Since the 1980s, Belle has made a name for herself as a sought-after voice actor, including as the German voice of Steven Seagal , Lorenzo Lamas and Kevin Sorbo . According to his own statements, he spoke well over 3000 roles. In the Harry Potter films he lent his voice to the Sorting Hat in German-speaking countries and to the character of the Smoker in the anime series One Piece . In November 2008, Belle appeared on stage in the live radio play Spring Heeled Jack at the Pasinger Fabrik in Munich. In 2021, Belle could be heard as Hans Berg in the crime radio play Blaues Herz, directed by Thomas Plum.

Belle lived with his wife in Munich until her death. His nephew Maximilian Belle and his niece Jacqueline Belle are also active in the dubbing industry. Ekkehardt Belle died at the age of 67 as a result of an operation.
