action
Professor Paul Redders comes from university and is not feeling well. He gets into the first taxi that comes his way, the driver is actually not free because he still has to deliver material somewhere, but he finally takes Redders with him. Lukas, the taxi driver, stops at the back entrance of a red light bar and delivers porn tapes there. His boss, the bar owner Imo Schwarz, and Lukas soon find out that the Redders waiting in the car in the back seat has since passed away. Since Redders is a theology professor and also a high-ranking Bremen state politician, Imo decides to bring the body into the house and then call Ms. Redders. He tells her that her husband is dead and claims that he died in his establishment. He sends in Elvira and Anita, two of his employees, who claim that he died while making love with them. Ms. Redders feels grateful to Imo because he shows himself discreetly because of the seemingly embarrassing situation, he takes a few hundred DM from her for the girls. Together with her family doctor friend, who diagnoses a heart attack, Ms. Redders takes away her husband's body. Ms. Redders agreed with her family doctor that it should have the effect that her husband died at home at his desk, Imo secretly photographs the removal of the body from his establishment.
Ms. Redders brings the body home and tells her children Christian and Franziska that their father died while working at home. After the funeral, Schwarz sends his accomplice Carlos to Ms. Redders, who pretends to be a journalist. He claims to have a witness for the allegedly fatal brothel visit, Schwarz would be willing to unpack and thus enable a revelation story that he had demanded DM 50,000. Ms. Redders visits Imo, who agrees to forego the interview if she would pay him the sum. Ms. Redders takes out a mortgage on her house and gives Imo the money step by step in exchange for the photos. Imo learns shortly thereafter that his former opponent Tanjos is about to be released from prison and is concerned, but he continues to blackmail Ms. Redders and claims that the alleged journalist raised the price to DM 100,000. Mrs. Redders is now trying to raise the money. Her son Christian overhears the conversation, so Ms. Redders tells him about the apparent circumstances of his father's death and about the blackmail. He refuses to give up his inheritance because he does not want to bow to any blackmailer. Christian seeks out Imo, the opponent Tanjos is also present at the encounter. Instead of getting the money back, Imo beats Christian up.
After Christian returns home with wounds, he tells his girlfriend Margit Lamp about the blackmail, who in turn tells her father, a senator and long-time friend of the late Redder. Meanwhile, Christian buys a gun and practices shooting. Senator Lamp visits Police Director Gerres, who instructs his officer Holm to deal with the matter discreetly. Meanwhile, Ms. Redders gives Imo Schwarz the DM 100,000 he has asked for. Lukas, who knows that Imo is blackmailing Ms. Redders, wants this money because he has meanwhile lost his taxi license. Imo is paying him off with a little money. Holm visits Imo and makes it clear to him that he knows about the blackmail. He asks him to end this, since Imo is Austrian, he can be expelled at any time, Imo then promises to leave Ms. Redders alone in the future. Meanwhile, Christian learns from his mother that she paid again and sold all of the jewelry. He is convinced that his father was not with prostitutes, he wants to see the alleged evidence photos, but his mother refuses. Christian visits Imo's brothel in the evening and wants to get the money back from his mother. He manages to take part of the money, but he is shot at by Tanjos, who gets Anita back in the resulting chaos. Christian is arrested by the police. Imo claims that Christian didn't shoot or steal anything, Christian is taken away anyway. The next day, Commissioner Piper interrogates Tanjos, who claims that Christian shot and that he only got his girl back from Imo. An arrest warrant is issued against Tanjos and his companions. Christian thereupon states that the DM 3,800 that were found with are his, he did not shoot.
Gerres informs Senator Lamp of the incidents involving his prospective son-in-law, who is now going home triumphantly. Piper seeks Imo in the hospital, when he asks Imo about the shooting, Christian turns up there too, Imo claims to Piper that Christian is a customer of his. Christian later visits Imo and asks him again to give the money back. He sends him away again and only says that there was an agreement at a higher level. Piper asks his supervisor Gerres what the matter is about, Imo had indicated that Piper was probably not well enough informed within the police headquarters. Gerres then tries to prevent Piper from further investigations. Margit confesses to Christian that she turned on her father, who is angry because he is against the agreement with the criminal Imo. Meanwhile, Imo Lukas, who is in financial trouble, makes it clear that the Redders' extortion has ended. Lukas then goes to Ms. Redders without Imos knowledge and demands money from her, but Ms. Redders sends him away. Lukas then goes to a newspaper editorial office to sell the story. Christian has meanwhile found the photos and has them analyzed. The analysis shows that the photos are real, but Redders was already dead when they were taken. Gerres and Holm learn of Lukas' attempt to sell the story and want to warn Imo who they think is behind it. Meanwhile, Christian visits him, who confronts him with the fact that his father was no longer conscious in the photos. He demands the money back again and otherwise threatens the police, Imo apparently agrees.
Piper shadows Imo's house and watches Holm go to Imo and accuse him of playing wrong. If there is another attempt to publicize the Redder affair, he will be expelled. Because of the overall situation with Christian, Lukas and Tanjos in Bremen, Imo is getting too hot and he wants to return to Austria voluntarily. Christian shows his mother the photos and tells her that they have been manipulated. Piper wants to know from his superiors what is going on in this matter, Gerres makes it clear to him that he should not make himself unpopular. Imo seeks out Lukas and threatens to break his bones if Lukas tries to sell the information again. Piper watches Christian go to Lukas to ask him about the photos. Christian offers Lukas money if he tells him the truth, Lukas agrees and makes an appointment with Christian in a lonely place. Imo learns about the deal from Lukas and gives his consent. Piper and his team follow Imo and Carlos, who go to the meeting point of Lukas and Christian. Imo plans to kill Lukas and Christian, it should look like Lukas shot Christian. Christian and Lukas appear and exchange information for money, when Carlos shoots Christian, Piper intervenes and shoots Imo in a short firefight. Carlos, who could only glancing at Christian, is arrested. To his relief, Piper can tell the angry Gerres the truth about the alleged brothel visit and the extortion. Piper then reports to Ms. Redders that she will now get her money back, Christian will only have to answer for his vigilante justice when getting back part of the money, he will be able to rely on self-defense for the shot at Imo.
