Stephan Orlac

Stephan Orlac (* 1931 in Düsseldorf ; † November 1, 2020 ) was a German actor .

Life

Stephan Orlac grew up in his hometown and after finishing school he took acting lessons from Luigi Malipiero . Between 1956 and 1958 he played at the Gate Tower Theater in Sommerhausen . After that, the Schauspielhaus Bochum was his artistic home until 1971, where he made a name for himself in particular as an actor in plays by Shakespeare , such as Puck in a Midsummer Night's Dream , as Edgar in King Lear or in the title role of Richard III. From 1971 to 1974 Orlac had an engagement at the Darmstadt State Theater . In the 1975/76 season he was onBavarian State Theater in Munich . Guest contracts led him to the festivals in Recklinghausen and Wunsiedel.

Stephan Orlac also worked successfully as a theater director . He was responsible for 30 productions in Bochum alone, including the Molière pieces Tartuffe and The Imaginary Sick and the musical My Fair Lady .

From 1975 Stephan Orlac was seen more often on television. The main role as the father of the family Eberhard Wichert in the ZDF series The Wicherts from next door , which was produced and broadcast in four seasons from 1986 to 1991, made him well known. Orlac also had continuous roles in the series Own stove is worth gold , How good that there is Maria and Blankenese . In addition to roles in various other television productions, he appeared in five episodes of the Tatort series between 1974 and 1981 .

Stephan Orlac was married to his fellow actor Elke Arendt . The director, author and concept artist Sebastian Orlac emerged from the connection .
