content

The Berger couple live in a small house on the outskirts of Hamburg. Gerd Berger works as an employee in the higher service and his wife Helga runs the household. The four children have actually grown up to the point that they could leave their parents' house. After the son Helmut decides to go to Bochum to study, the parents are very happy. But the siblings don't follow suit. They rush from one affair to the next, sometimes moving out, then moving in again. Above all, they strain Gerd Berger's nerves, who finds it difficult to understand the chaotic lifestyle of his children, in contrast to his rather understanding wife Helga. His eldest son Klaus in particular, a notorious late sleeper and long-term unemployed, pissed him off more than once. When Karin Berger gets married, she brings her husband Hansi into the household. Hansi soon turns out to be an idiot par excellence, who also doesn't seem to need any meaningful activity and relies more or less on the support of the Bergers. It is not even very popular with Helga Berger. The relationship did not last long, despite several attempts at arbitration. As a quasi-replacement for son Helmut, nephew Günter, who is training to be a ship carpenter in Hamburg, moves in with the Bergers. So the hoped-for peace and quiet for the stressed parents won't work. Gerd Berger is constantly overcome by new tantrums, not least because of the neighbors Hilde and Martin Busch, who like to interfere in Berger's private life. Gerd, who also likes to play the house tyrant, has no choice but to grab the sherry that is in the kitchen.

At the end of the series, the Bergers sell their house and move into an apartment. They are followed - for the last 10 parts - by the Meyers with their married children.

Characters (selection)

  • Gerd Berger - spirited family man, whose blood often boils over. But behind the rough shell there is a soft core; often he is easily offended. He's always complaining, but in truth he loves his wife and children.
  • Helga Berger - the friendly mother and wife plays the calm pole of the family. She tries to mediate when there is another row.
  • Klaus Berger - as a would-be used car dealer, Klaus keeps failing. Otherwise, he doesn't keep it up with work or any discipline. He doesn't even think about moving out of his parents' house.
  • Karin Berger - is very similar to her father. She knows what she wants, but unfortunately lets herself into Hansi. You like to play a trick on fate.
  • Uschi Berger - the good-looking Uschi distinguishes her amiability. She often has relationships with either older or married men. She secretly hopes for a career in show business.
  • Hansi - Karin's husband is anything but an intelligent beast. Mishaps happen to him all the time and his laziness irritates both his wife and his father-in-law.
  • Hilde Busch - the Bergers' neighbor is Helga's girlfriend, but she annoys Gerd all the time. As a gossip, she likes to come up with news, sometimes "borrows" food and invites herself to celebrations at the Bergers' home.

Others

The series was played and shot in front of viewers in the studio. However, there were also outdoor shots. Gerd Berger's character occasionally reminded me of Alfred Tetzlaff from " A Heart and a Soul ". For example, he never opens the door himself, but indicates that the bell has rang. In one episode, he simply turns off the TV to tell his assembled family something important to him. A prominent guest actor appeared in each episode, such as b. Maria Sebaldt , Wolfgang Völz , Hans Daniel , Gottfried Kramer or Gernot Endemann .

Specialty

" The real main role in this series actually plays the eponymous stove, because when the script that led the Bergers to move, the family was not accompanied to the new home, as is usual in family series."
