Michael Søren Madsen (born September 25, 1957 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actor. He is best known for his roles in Reservoir Dogs , Species , Thelma and Louise , Donnie Brasco , Sin City and Kill Bill .

Life

Madsen first worked as an actor for the Steppenwolf Theater Company in Chicago, where he a. a. worked with John Malkovich . After supporting roles in the films WarGames , The Doors and Thelma & Louise , he first became known to a wider audience as Mr. Blonde in Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs (1992). His participation in Pulp Fiction (1994) could have triggered another surge in popularity in the first half of the 1990s . Because Madsen had already been cast for Wyatt Earp - The Life of a Legend , however, he could not take on the role of Vincent Vega eventually played by John Travolta .

In the following years he played leading roles in various successful film productions. a. Species and Free Willy 2 - Freedom in Peril count. The subsequent films Kill Bill and Sin City were no less successful . With more than 250 film and television roles, including numerous appearances in B- and trash films , Michael Madsen is one of the busiest American actors alive.

In 2004, Madsen said of himself that he had turned a lot of junk and wasted time in recent years. There are only five to six films that he is proud of.

In addition to acting, Madsen is also into poetry. Over the years he has written four volumes of poetry.

His first marriage was to Georganne LaPiere, Cher's half-sister . From his second marriage to Jeannine Bisignano comes their son Christian , who is also an actor. He has been married to De Anna Morgan since 1996, with whom he has three sons. His younger sister Virginia is also a well-known actress.
