action

Harry Talbot is released from prison. He wins a few thousand dollars and a car in poker. Talbot takes the hitchhiker Kit Califano with him while the journey continues. Califano belongs to a family of mafiosi. She wants to kill the killer who once killed her father. Her grandmother Martucci wants to end the war between the Mafia families and tries to stop Califano. It turns out that Talbot was allowed to win the car because his play partners wanted to get rid of the corpse hidden in the trunk. They learn that the corpse has a key to the locker with money. Then they look for Talbot.

Harry and Kit take a break in a motel after Harry, irritated by Kit's legs, steered the car off the road. Kit would be ready to sleep with Harry, but Harry watches porn on TV while she freshen up. Because she finds it utterly pathetic, they don't get closer. In the morning Kit gets breakfast and discovers the body in the trunk, but doesn't tell Harry about it. She thinks Talbot is a loser and mocks him several times, whereupon he throws her out of the car. She suggests that he play a big game of poker that she knows about. He then takes her back with him.

When he later discovers the body in the trunk, he suspects Kit to have pushed the body under him because she does not react scared. That in turn leads to her wanting to leave him again. But they get along again and try to dispose of the body in a garbage dump. You put it on a forklift and Kit drives it up for fun. When they are about to leave, they are surprised by a policeman who does not notice the body. He complains that they are lounging in a garbage dump and they claim they just want to be alone. The policeman suggests a hotel and leaves her alone.

Kit brings Harry to the promised game of poker, which is only used to attempt an assassination attempt on her father's killer. The assassination attempt fails and Kit has to confess to Harry what she is actually about. In the meantime, however, the former owners of the car have found out about them and want the corpse in order to get a locker key that can take them to some fat booty. Harry and Kit are forced to take them to this garbage dump, but the dead man no longer has his jacket on because Harry has taken it. After he finally pulls out the jacket, the crooks find fabric there, but not the key. In the meantime, Kit's aunt's detectors have arrived and want to take her away. A wild shootout ensues in which most of the boys get killed, but Harry and Kit get away unscathed.

At night they find shelter in a tool shed and are now finally getting closer. Late at night Harry tries to bury the body and finds the key in the dead man's mouth. The remaining crooks surprise him and demand the key, but he gives them a wrong one. They also kidnap Kit, who is now in great danger because her father's killer has her on the list too. Harry just wants to get the money with the right key and leave Kit to her fate. But he doesn't and shows up at Kit's aunt's estate and frees her. They find the safe with the money, but before they can disappear, the killer of Kit's father reappears and wants to kill them. Events turn out to be a hair's breadth in Harry and Kit's favor and they escape with the money. They drive to the airport, where Kit suggests going to Monte Carlo to earn even more money. Harry isn't thrilled, but Kit just says, "I promise, I'll cause you problems."

Reviews

The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was a “conventional mixture of road movie and gangster comedy” that was “foreseeable in development” and “too leisurely”. The film is "played with a wink", but its humor is "too macabre in places".

Wesley Lovell wrote in the Apollo Movie Guide that the film was "slow, unoriginal and problematic". Only some dialogues would show humor.
