action

The body of the astronaut Patrick Ross is attacked by an alien force in space. After returning to earth, it begins to fertilize women who give birth to their children after a few minutes and die in the process. He takes the children to a remote barn.

The government liquidator Press Lenox is hired to provide Ross. At a secret military base, he discovers that Sil, known from the movie Species, has been cloned . The woman, Eve, is already an adult. She learns telepathically that a conspecific exists. Ross also learns that Eve exists and wants to have offspring with her.

Eve escapes and finds the barn, Lenox and his team follow her. Eve fights against Ross who kills her. Lenox kills Ross, the cocoons with the alien children are destroyed.

A scientist who worked for NASA claims at the beginning of the plot that the aliens came from the Magellanic Clouds. However, since the samples were found on Mars, he suspects that Mars was once exposed to an invasion by these aliens.

Reviews

James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that Species was a moderately successful SF movie with some “nifty” special effects and action scenes, but not a movie that needed a sequel . The film Species II is only characterized by how "terrible" ("awful") it is. He is characterized by the “blatant disregard” (“blatant disregard”) of intelligence, logic and consistency. Berardinelli praised the appearance of Natasha Henstridge , whereby he mainly devoted himself to the question of whether she could be seen in the film topless . He also criticized the representations of Michael Madsen, Marg Helgenberger, James Cromwell and Justin Lazard. In the end, he hoped there would never be a Species 3 movie .

“Belated continuation of a bloodthirsty science fiction film that easily surpasses its predecessor in terms of disgusting effects. The orgy of violence is unwound without meaning and understanding and, due to the lack of suspense, it creates nothing more than annoying boredom. "
