Michael T. "Mykelti" Williamson (born March 4, 1957 or 1960 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American actor .

Life

Mykelti Williamson was born as Michael T. Williamson and appeared at the beginning of his career under the pseudonym Mykel T. Williamson . He was married to actress Olivia Brown from 1983 to 1985 . From his second marriage to Cheryl Chisholm, which lasted from 1989 to 1994, a daughter was born. He has been married to Sondra Spriggs for the third time since 1997, with whom he has two other daughters.

His career began in 1981 in the television series The Righteous Apples , and he had other appearances in Starsky & Hutch , Hill Street Blues , Miami Vice , China Beach and The Night Hawk . He made his feature film debut in 1984 in Walter Hill's action film Streets in Flames .

He had only ten years later his breakthrough when he on the side of Tom Hanks the role of Benjamin Buford "Bubba" Blue in the movie Forrest Gump by Robert Zemeckis took over. For his portrayal of Bubba Williamson was nominated at the MTV Movie Awards 1994 in the category "Best Breakthrough Performance".

A year later he played the cop Drucker in Michael Mann's thriller Heat . In 2001, he worked again for Mann on the biopic Ali , in which Williamson played the boxing promoter Don King .
