Kidnapped - 13 Days of Hope is the title of a 13-part US television series . Each episode describes a day in the course of a kidnapping.

action

The Cain couple are among the wealthiest in New York City . Having received death threats a few years ago, their 15-year-old son Leopold is guarded by a bodyguard , Virgil Hayes. Hayes and a colleague are accompanying Leo and his friend Alfred to school in the car when the vehicle has to stop at a construction site. A police officer approaches the vehicle and suddenly shoots at the bodyguards. Leo is kidnapped, Virgil survives seriously injured.

The kidnappers send a warning to the parents not to call the police. The Cains hire former FBI agent Lucian Knapp and his partner Turner, who specialize in kidnapping. A short time later, the FBI got involved in the case. FBI agent Latimer King is supposed to find the culprit who shot the bodyguard Virgil.

While two dissimilar teams try to free Leo, the kidnappers, led by a Mr. Schroeder, ruthlessly try to take out anyone who knows about them, even initial accomplices.

Background information

Anyone watching the series can hardly avoid the impression that the set design, locations and staging borrowed a lot from Ron Howard's 1996 kidnapping drama Bounty - One Will Pay, with Mel Gibson in the lead role. Nevertheless, new aspects were also incorporated into the television series, such as the temporary removal of Leo to Mexico during his kidnapping .

The original plan was to shoot more seasons and kidnap a new character in each new season, but due to falling audience numbers, only five episodes were initially broadcast on television in the US. The remaining eight episodes were first put online on the Internet. The series was then officially declared ended on May 14, 2007; the last episode aired on August 11, 2007. In 2008, the series was broadcast in full on the Universal HD television channel in the USA .

In Austria, the series was shown on ORF from July 30, 2008 , followed by Germany, where it began broadcasting on July 31, 2008 on Sat.1 . The last episode ran on October 16, 2008.

The series has been available for free from the streaming provider Watchbox (formerly Clipfish ) since 2018 .

DVD release

The series has also been available on DVD in stores since October 16, 2008.
