Dana Delany
Dana Welles Delany (born March 13, 1956 in New York City ) is an American actress and voice actress .
Life and accomplishments
Delany grew up in Stamford , Connecticut . She graduated from Wesleyan University , then moved to New York City, where she appeared on television and in plays. In the thriller The Fanatic (1981) she played on the side of Lauren Bacall and James Garner . Small roles followed, so in 1986 she played the role of Cynthia Farrell at the side of Tom Selleck in two episodes of the television series Magnum .
From 1988 to 1991, Delany starred in the television series China Beach . For this role she was nominated for a Golden Globe in 1990 and 1991 . In 1989 and 1992 she won an Emmy , for which she was also nominated in 1990 and 1991.
In the drama True Women (1997), Delany starred alongside Annabeth Gish and Angelina Jolie . For this role she won a Lone Star Film & Television Award in 1998 . Her appearance on an episode of the television series Woman Power in 2001 earned her another 2001 Emmy nomination.
In the cartoon series Superman from 1996 to 2000 she spoke Lois Lane . In other series of the DC Animated Universe , she took this synchronous role again for isolated episodes.
In the short-lived television series The Secret of Pasadena , Delany starred as Catherine McAllister . She received positive reviews for her role in the 13-part series Kidnapped - 13 Days of Hope .
From 2007 to 2010 Delany starred in the hit television series Desperate Housewives as Katherine Mayfair . Delany was originally offered the role of Bree Van de Kamp , ultimately played by Marcia Cross , at the start of the series , she was the cast of choice by Marc Cherry. Delany turned down the role because she didn't want to play a housewife again after The Secret of Pasadena . Delany had already turned down what was ultimately a very successful role. After producer Darren Star saw her with Kim Cattrall in Live Nude Girls from 1995, he offered her the Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City . With another slippery role Delany didn't want to scare away her fans.
In 2010, Delany starred again alongside Nathan Fillion with a two-part guest appearance on the series Castle , as in The Secret of Pasadena and Desperate Housewives . Her role in Desperate Housewives was written off the series because Delany had accepted a lead role in the series Body of Proof . There she played the neurosurgeon Megan Hunt , who switched to forensic medicine after a car accident because she had lost her dexterity for precise interventions. Delany herself had a car accident before filming began, in which she broke two fingers. The series was canceled in May 2013.
