Stamford is a city in Fairfield County in the US state Connecticut with approximately 130,000 inhabitants (2016 estimate, US Census Bureau ). The urban area has a size of 134.9 km².
history
Stamford was founded in 1641 by English Presbyterians under Pastor Richard Denton . In 1893 Stamford was promoted to town.

Stamford is connected to Interstate 95 and is served by two railroad lines, Amtrak and Metro North . A good network of intercity buses provides connections to Darien , Norwalk , Greenwich and Port Chester .
