Henry Oswald Simmons junior (born July 1, 1970 in Stamford , Connecticut ) is an American actor .

Life

Simmons, the son of a tax inspector and a schoolteacher, has a twin sister. He graduated in economics in 1992 at Franklin Pierce College ( New Hampshire ab). At times he worked in a financial company.

Simmons made his actor debut on an episode of the 1994 comedy series Saturday Night Live replacing an injured colleague. In the sports drama Above the Rim (1994) he starred alongside Duane Martin , Tupac Shakur and Marlon Wayans . In the drama On the QT (1999) he played alongside James Earl Jones one of the bigger roles; He also took on major roles in the comedy Snow Days (1999), in the sports drama A Gentleman's Game (2001) and in the historical drama Spartacus (2004). From 2000 to 2005 he appeared in over 100 episodes of the television series New York Cops - NYPD Blue .

The thriller The Insurgents (2006), in which Simmons played the leading role of Ex-Marine Marcus alongside John Shea , Mary Stuart Masterson , Juliette Marquis and Michael Mosley , received the German Independence Award from the Oldenburg International Film Festival . The role in the film drama South of Pico (2007) brought Simmons the 2007 Great Jury Prize at the American Black Film Festival .

From 2014 to 2020 he appeared in the series Marvel's Agents of SHIELD .
