New York Undercover is an 89-part US crime series by Kevin Arkadie and Dick Wolf , who is also part of the production team with his company Wolf Film. The television series was produced from 1994 to 1998 for the US television network FOX . New York Undercover became the first American police or drama series that did not have two white leading actors.
The German premiere took place in 1997 on the private broadcaster RTL . At that time, only the first 19 episodes of the 26-part first season were broadcast. In 1998 these were then repeated on RTL II , the second offshoot of the RTL Group , and broadcast with a further 57 new episodes of the second and third season. The RTL specialty channel RTL Crime broadcast all 89 parts of the crime series for the first time in 2007/2008, including the 13 episodes of the fourth season in German premieres.

In the crime series, detectives J. C. Williams and Eddie Torres, an African American and a Puerto Rican, ensure law and order on the streets of New York. Under the direction of Virginia Cooper, an experienced policewoman from the fourth district of the New York Police Department , they often work as undercover agents to uncover a wide variety of crimes in the urban jungle, such as drug-related crime, prostitution and murder. From the second season onwards, the investigative team will be supported by detectives Nina Moreno and Tommy McNamara.
In the fourth season, J. C. Williams and Nina Moreno leave New York's fourth police district and join an elite undercover unit. You can find support in the new detectives Nell Delaney and Alec Stone. The detectives will be Lt. Reported to Malcolm Barker.
