Jonathan LaPaglia (born August 31, 1969 in Adelaide , South Australia ) is an Australian actor , best known for his leading roles in the television series Seven Days and The District .

Life

Jonathan LaPaglia first studied medicine at the University of Adelaide and practiced as a doctor for three years in Adelaide, Sydney and London . In 1994 he moved to New York where he attended the Circle In The Square Theater School .

His father is Italian and his mother is Dutch . He is the youngest of three brothers. His oldest brother is the actor Anthony LaPaglia . LaPaglia lives in Santa Monica , California with his wife, actress Ursula Brooks, and their daughter .

LaPaglia had his first role in the Dick Wolf series New York Undercover , in the third season played Det. Tommy McNamara . From 1998 to 2001 he played the leading role of Frank Parker in the science fiction series Seven Days . This was followed by a longer engagement as Det. Kevin Debreno from the second season of the series The District - deployment in Washington .

In addition to individual guest appearances in other crime series such as Criminal Intent , Navy CIS or Castle , LaPaglia also had roles in various films. He had longer series roles again in Windfall as Dave Park and in Cold Case - No Victim Is Ever Forgotten as ADA Curtis Bell . In 2007, LaPaglia played both an acting role and herself in the award-winning series The Sopranos .
