Seven Days - Das Tor zur Zeit , in the original Seven Days , is an American and Canadian science fiction television series that is about time travel . The idea for the series comes from Christopher Crowe .

action

A secret department of the National Security Agency has developed a machine - called a time capsule - from the technology of the alien spaceship that crashed in Roswell (see Roswell incident ), with which it is possible to send a person up to seven days into the past.

Frank Parker, a former elite soldier brought from a military psychiatry especially for this mission, uses this technology to reverse terrorist attacks and other disasters. He is supported by the Russian scientist Olga Vukavitch and his old comrade Craig Donovan.

The sequence of the individual episodes is mostly identical. A serious disaster (mostly caused by terrorists or criminals) hits the USA and Frank Parker is supposed to prevent it. Parker is sent back in time for this and calls the NSA after his arrival in the past to provide information about the cause of the disaster and details on how to prevent it. In addition, Parker is also actively involved in the prevention of the disaster, whereby he repeatedly causes problems through his undisciplined approach, but ultimately always prevents the disaster. Individual episodes of the series modify this scheme in which they u. a. cover the theoretical specifics of time travel and its impact on Parker's missions.

Characters

Frank Parker

Lieutenant Sir (by accolade in the second season) Frances "Frank" Bartholomew Parker (code name Cassiopeia ) is the main character of the series. In every episode he travels through time to prevent a catastrophe. Things always happen in the time gap that make it difficult for him to prevent it. In one episode he is transformed into a child, in another episode he finds himself in a strange body. Before his career, he was stationed with the United States Navy SEALs in Somalia and suffered severe psychological consequences from being taken hostage . However, this gives him a strong psyche, which is why he is selected for the missions. He is sometimes prone to undisciplined behavior. In the German dubbing he is voiced by Florian Krüger-Shantin .

Olga Vukavich

Dr. Olga Vukavich is a scientist from Russia. She has a strong love for Frank Parker at times. She is a co-manager in the project and helps Frank Parker in his assignments. In the German dubbing it is spoken by Daniela Hoffmann .

Episodes

The series has three seasons of 21, 23 and 22 episodes produced and broadcast by UPN . The first season was shot in California , USA, the second and third seasons in British Columbia , Canada. In May 2001, despite UPN's interest in additional episodes, the series was discontinued.

The German-language first broadcast of all three seasons was broadcast by ProSieben . However, two episodes of the third season were broadcast for the first time in a later repetition of the series on the Kabel 1 channel.

Trivia

In several places the series refers to the then still fictional element 115 of the periodic table , which in reality was only discovered in 2004 and named Moscovium in 2016 .

Thematically related films that deal with "time travel" to investigate / prevent crimes are Timecop (1994), Frequency (2000), Minority Report (2002), Next (2007) and Source Code (2011) as well as Déjà Vu - Race Against Time (2006).
