Punished - Mord in Manhattan (Original title: Exiled: A Law & Order Movie ) is a television film by screenwriters Dick Wolf and Charles Kipps , based on the crime and lawyer series Law & Order . It was broadcast on November 8, 1998 on NBC , in Germany on March 18, 2007 on RTL . The story is set after Detective Mike Logan's transfer. Kipps received the Edgar Allan Poe Award in 1999 for his screenplay.
action
The film begins three years after Detective Mike Logan's last appearance on Law & Order in 1995. At the end of the episode Prejudice , Logan slapped a corrupt, homophobic politician in the face of several reporters after he was acquitted of a murder charge in the courtroom. Although he did not lose his job, he was "administratively reassigned" to the domestic disputes department on Staten Island . While still trying to cope with feelings of rejection and isolation, fate offers him a chance for salvation when he unexpectedly comes across a forgotten murder case.
The case could potentially expose a corrupt police conspiracy, which is why his supervisor repeatedly instructs him to leave the case to the "right" cops at the New York City Police Department . Logan sees the case as a long-awaited opportunity to revive his career and be reinstated as a homicide investigator. The case ultimately leads him to the Department of the 27th District, from which he had previously been transferred.
Logan also begins a romance with a relative of the victim. Soon he has to choose between the woman and his dream of becoming a homicide investigator with the NYPD again.
