content
Contrary to the factual presentation of police work, for example in Law & Order , Homicide gives an insight into the everyday life of Americans. Above all, emphasis is placed on the realistic representation of people, their forms of behavior and personalities, which means that the series also takes on strong dramatic traits, for example when the effects of the work on the police are portrayed. The series also has a lot of very precisely drawn secondary characters.
Therefore Homicide belongs to the series in a series with Law & Order and NYPD Blue to the series in the early 1990s that brought about a modernization of the crime series in terms of a realistic representation of police work.
