Bernd Rumpf
Bernd Rumpf (born March 21, 1947 in Göttingen ; † October 1, 2019 ) was a German actor and voice actor .
Life
Rumpf completed an apprenticeship in acting and pantomime at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen .
As a speaker, he was the German standard voice of Liam Neeson from the mid-1990s , for example in Nell (as Dr. Jerome "Jerry" Lovell ), in Before and after (as Ben Ryan ), in Star Wars: Episode I - The Dark One Menace , The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels (as Qui-Gon Jinn ), in 96 Hours (as Bryan Mills ), in Batman Begins (as Henri Ducard \ Ra's Al Ghul ), in Family Guy (Season 13, episode: Irish Battles as Liam Neeson ) and in Battleship (as Admiral Shane ). His other well-known synchronous roles included u. a. From Dusk Till Dawn as the voice of George Clooney (Seth Gecko) and the Oscar- winning film Elizabeth - The Golden Kingdom as the voice of William Houston (Don Guerau de Spes ) . On the X-Files series - The FBI's Creepy Cases , he spoke the voice of Peter Donat (Bill Mulder) . In 2010 he was hired by the Franco-German television broadcaster Arte as the new German voice of the British actor Patrick McGoohan, who died in 2009, and his role as number 6 in the series of the same name. The ZDF had for its broadcasting in 1969 only 13 of 17 episodes with the actor Horst Naumann synchronized. In July and August 2010, ARTE brought the series to German television for the first time in full and in German . He also spoke to Martin Landau as Commander John Koenig for the DVD release in the previously missing scenes and episodes of the British science fiction series "Mondbasis Alpha 1" (Space 1999), as the ZDF then shortened episodes or did not broadcast them at all . Martin Landau's spokesman at the time was Manfred Schott .
After Rumpf had dubbed Alan Rickman in Sense and Sensuality (as Colonel Christopher Brandon ) in 1995 , he took over the synchronization of Rickman in the Harry Potter films (as Severus Snape ) after Erich Hallhuber's death in 2003 . He won a casting for this role by orienting himself on the voice of his colleague and predecessor Erich Hallhuber. Rickman von Rumpf was also voiced in Sweeney Todd (as Judge Turpin ) and Perfume: The Tale of a Murderer (as Antoine Richis ). He also played the role of Absolem in Tim Burton's film Alice in Wonderland , which was originally voiced by Alan Rickman. Bernd Rumpf received several awards for his speaking roles.
Since 1974 Bernd Rumpf has played in various theaters , such as the Theater am Neumarkt and the Schauspielhaus in Zurich as well as the Deutsches Theater Berlin as a theater actor . He was also involved in various television series , such as In Love in Berlin or Rote Rosen .
Rumpf was married to the actress Roswitha Dost . He died on October 1, 2019 at the age of 72.
