Peter Frederick Weller (born June 24, 1947 in Stevens Point , Wisconsin ) is an American actor , director and art historian . He gained fame primarily through his leading roles in the films RoboCop and RoboCop 2 .

Life

Peter Frederick Weller was born on June 24, 1947 in Stevens Point , Wisconsin . His mother worked as a housewife. His father worked as a helicopter pilot for the US Army for a long time and then worked as a lawyer.

He started his actual acting career by attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts . In 1987 he got the lead role in the movie RoboCop . In 1990 he played the role of RoboCop again in the second part . As a director, he staged individual episodes for various television series.

In 2004 he graduated with a Masters degree in Art History from Syracuse University . In 2014 he received a Ph.D. awarded with a thesis on the Italian Renaissance .
