Stevens Point is located in central Wisconsin on the Wisconsin River , a left tributary of the Mississippi . The Plover River flows through the east of the city and flows into the Wisconsin River about one kilometer south of the city.

The Verso Corporation operates a paper mill in Stevens Point with an annual production capacity of around 210,000 tons of paper.
The Interstate 39 and here running on a section of track shared US Highway 51 leading into a north-south direction through the east of Stevens Point.
