Kathy Kinney

Kathy Kinney (born November 3, 1954 in Stevens Point , Wisconsin ) is an American actress .

Kathy Kinney came to New York City in 1976 at the age of 23 and found a job as a secretary for WCBS-TV. During this time she laid the foundations for the role of Mimi Bobeck , with whom she would later become popular on the Drew Carey Show . During this time she was active as a stand-up comedian and even taught improvisation courses. She caught the eye of filmmaker Bill Sherwood , who wrote her a role for his drama Parting Glances . After this success she went to Los Angeles where she had to fight hard for small roles. Seinfeld and Full House were just two of her guest appearances. She also had - mostly small - roles in some movies like The Ghosts I Called ... , Stanley and Iris , Arachnophobia , This Boy's Life and Mr. Jones .

In 1995 she made a guest appearance in the pilot for the Drew Carey Show . Actually, her role should only be a one-time appearance, but the character of Mimi Bobeck was so well received by the audience that she received a permanent engagement. She also played the role of Mimi Bobeck several times as a guest in other television series and twice as a candidate in the US remake of The Price Is Hot .
