Mr. Jones is an American feature film by Mike Figgis from the year 1993 with Richard Gere and Lena Olin in the lead roles .

Mr. Jones has a manic-depressive illness (so-called bipolar disorder ). Great heights are followed by deep crashes. After his introduction to psychiatry , the doctor treating him, Dr. Elizabeth 'Libbie' Bowen and himself have a romantic relationship that goes beyond the purely professional patient-doctor relationship . This relationship between the two, which is not allowed in this way, ultimately has serious consequences.

The lexicon of international film ruled that the script is conventional, but that the director and the actors break this conventional. However, they would fail because of the “ compromise between aspiration and public appeal ”.

The German Film and Media Assessment FBW in Wiesbaden awarded the film the rating particularly valuable.
