The poison of doubt (original title: Cruel Doubt ) is an American drama two-part series from 1992 . Directed by Yves Simoneau , the screenplay was written by John Gay based on the book Cruel Doubt by Joe McGinniss . The film was produced for NBC .

In North Carolina living student Chris Pritchard deals a lot with drug use and video games. He is arrested in 1988. He is charged with killing his stepfather and two of his friends, who left an inheritance of two million dollars. His mother Bonnie doesn't believe he committed the murder.
Reviews
Paul Cardwell Jr. wrote in the study The Attacks on Role-Playing Games (published in: Skeptical Inquirer , Vol. 18, No. 2/1994, pp. 157-165) after this and another film about the murder had been broadcast there have been other similar murders. The representations in this film are better than in the other.
Awards
The film was nominated for an Emmy in 1992 for Outstanding Miniseries and for the Sets . Francine Maisler was awarded the Artios Prize of the Casting Society of America in 1992 .

The first broadcast took place in the NBC program in two parts; on May 17, 1992 and May 19, 1992. The events were also filmed in the television film The Fourth Commandment from the same year with Sharon Gless and William McNamara .
