Sharon Marguerite Gless (born May 31, 1943 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actress .

life and career

Gless became known worldwide through the role of the police officer Christine Cagney in the crime series Cagney & Lacey . Sharon Gless has received two Emmy and one Golden Globe awards for her performance on the series . She also got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1995 at 7065 Hollywood Boulevard .

After the end of the series, things got quieter around Sharon Gless, who was mainly seen in TV specials on Cagney & Lacey in the following years . She made the headlines unintentionally when she was threatened by a stalker in 1990 .

In 2000 she finally made a successful television comeback when she got a leading role in the series Queer as Folk as Deborah "Debbie" Novotny , which she played until 2005. Then she got a recurring role in the series Nip / Tuck - Beauty Has Its Price . From 2007 to 2013 she played the role of Madeline West in Burn Notice . In the tenth episode of the third season she was there with her then-actress Tyne Daly (Cagney & Lacey) to see.

In 2017 she was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year.

Sharon Gless has been married to Barney Rosenzweig, former producer of the series Cagney & Lacey , since 1991 .
