The Finnish national women's football team represents Finland in international women's football . The national team reports to the Finnish Football Association and has been coached by Andrée Jeglertz since 2010. Based on the "Huuhkajat" (eagle owls) called Finland's men's national team, it is called "Helmarit" or "Helmipöllöt" (German: barnacles; literally translated: pearl owls).
For the Euro 2005 they qualified for the first time and reached the semi-finals completely surprisingly. For the first time, the association was able to reap the benefits of successful youth work. In 2009 the 10th European Championship took place in Finland, so Finland was automatically qualified as host. The Finnish team reached the quarter-finals after two wins in the preliminary round, where the team lost 3-2 to England . The Finnish selection took part in a women's European championship for the third time in Sweden in 2013 , but was eliminated in the preliminary round. The Finns were the only participants in the previous European Championships that were unable to qualify for the 2017 European Championship, which was increased to 16 participants.
