The 1999 Algarve Cup was the sixth edition of the annual tournament for women's national football teams and took place between March 14 and 20, 1999 in the Portuguese Algarve . The team from China won the tournament ahead of the USA and Denmark .

Eight teams took part in the invitation tournament in 1999. First-time participants are marked in italics .

Tournament course

The eight participating teams were divided into two groups and met in a round-robin tournament . In the final round that followed, the fourth, third and second group players played for seventh, fifth and third places, and the group winners in the final for the tournament victory.
