Liu Ying (soccer player)

Liu Ying ( Chinese  劉英 ; born June 11, 1974 ) is a Chinese soccer player . She took part in the Summer Olympics twice for the People's Republic of China .

Career

With the Chinese national team , she was allowed to take part in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta . They finished the group stage with the team in first place ahead of the United States . In the semifinals, the team from China defeated the national team of Brazil 3-2. She and her colleagues had to be content with silver because they lost 2-1 to the hosts from the United States in the final. Four years later she was allowed to participate in the Olympic Games again. At the 2000 Summer Olympics , she and her team were eliminated in the group stage as third-placed.
