The 1998 Algarve Cup was the fifth edition of the annual tournament for women's national football teams and took place between March 15 and 21, 1998 in the Portuguese Algarve . The defending champion Norway won the tournament ahead of Denmark and the USA .
Participating teams
In 1998 eight teams took part in the invitation tournament.
Tournament course
The eight participating teams were divided into two groups and met in a round-robin tournament . In the final round that followed, the fourth, third and second group players played for seventh, fifth and third places, and the group winners in the final for the tournament victory.
