Katrine Søndergaard Pedersen (born April 13, 1977 ) is a Danish football player and record national player for Denmark.
Career
Pedersen began her career at the Stensballe IK club . Between 1994 and 2002 she played for HEI Århus and was Danish champion in 1997 and 1998. After a brief stint at the club IK Skovbakken she moved to the 2002/03 season for English club Fulham WFC and won the double of championship and cup . From 2003 to 2005 she played for the Norwegian club IF Fløya . In the 2006 season she played for the Swedish club Djurgården / Älvsjö before joining the club Asker FK in 2007, which has been called Stabæk FK since it was taken over by Stabæk IF .
She played her first international match on September 14, 1994 in a game against the Netherlands . Pedersen took part in the 1995, 1999 and 2007 World Championships and the 1997, 2001, 2005 and 2009 European Championships . On March 9, 2005, she made her 100th international match in the 4-1 victory in the Algarve Cup against Finland and on June 5, 2005, she replaced Lene Terp as the record national player in Denmark with her 106th international match . After the resignation of Birgit Prinz , she was the active national player with the most international matches in Europe until her own resignation. On March 11, 2013, she made her 200th international match as part of the Algarve Cup 2013 in the 2-0 defeat against Japan as the second European. In the following game, on March 13 in the game for 7th place against Mexico , she managed the 100th win in an international match. At the international match on April 9, 2013 against Russia (5-1), she was honored for her over 200 appearances in the national team.
In 2013 she took part for the fifth time in the finals of the European Women's Football Championship , in which Denmark was eliminated in the semifinals by a penalty shootout against Norway. The defender was last captain and is the record player for the Danish national team with 210 internationals for Denmark and 9 goals. Along with Birgit Prinz and Therese Sjögran, she is the only European player with more than 200 international matches.
On November 10, 2013, she announced the end of her active football career due to her pregnancy and at the same time resigned from the national team, but ran again in the second half of 2014 for the Australian first division club Adelaide United .
Pedersen's main job is as a teacher .
