history
2008/09 - foundation and first season
In 2008, the Australian Football Association (FFA) founded the first women's professional league . In the same year, the women's team of Adelaide United FC was formed and joined as one of the eight founding members of the new league. Former Australian soccer player Michael Barnett took over as coach. With only two wins, one draw and seven defeats, the team was bottom of the table at the end of the first season.
2009 - Second season
After the disappointing previous season, the team was significantly changed in terms of personnel. However, success did not materialize this season and the team did not manage to win a single win in their ten league games. Adelaid United was only able to get three points in three draws and was one point ahead of the even weaker New Castle Jets .
2010/11 - third season
The club's third season in the W-League was also disappointing. The team lost all ten league games and was again bottom of the table.
2011/12 and 2012/13 - fourth and fifth seasons
After three seasons at the bottom of the table, Michael Barnett was dismissed and David Edmondson was the team's new coach. However, the new coach could not improve the poor performance and so this season ended with the last place in the table. The subsequent 2012/13 season did not go any better either and the team was again last. This makes Adelaide United the weakest team since the W-League began.
2013/14 - Sixth season
With the start of the new season, the coach changed. The new coach was former Australian international Ross Aloisi. The team reached sixth place in the table at the end of the season.
2014 - Seventh season
Also in the 2014 season, the team could not join the top teams in the league and was second to bottom with a seventh place.
