history

2008/09 - foundation and first season

In 2008, the Australian founded football's governing body (FFA) with the W-League , the first women's football league in the country. In the same year, Newcastle United Jets FC announced the creation of their own women's team. The team became one of the eight founding members of the new league at the beginning of the 2008/09 season. The team's first coach was former Australian professional footballer Gary Phillips. The team was able to achieve second place in the table at the end of the season. As one of the four best-placed teams, the women moved into the W-League play-offs . In the semifinals, the team lost 1-0 to Canberra United FC .

2009 and 2010/11 - Second and Third Seasons

After a good first season in the league, there was no success in the next two seasons. Under the new Irish football coach Wayne O'Sullivan , the Newcastle United Jets Women could not win a single game in the 2009 season and were bottom of the table. In the following 2010/11 season, only a disappointing penultimate place could be earned.

2011/12 - fourth season

Before the 2011/12 season, the previous coach Wayne O'Sullivan was replaced by the former Australian national soccer player Clayton Zane . In addition, the club signed the former German national player Ariane Hingst for one season. Despite the reinforcement, the team missed the play-offs as fifth in the table.

2012/13 - fifth season

In the 2012/13 season Wayne O'Sullivan took over the coaching office again. During the season, the team managed only one win in twelve games. The season ended in penultimate seventh place.

2013/14 - Sixth season

Before the start of the current 2013/14 season, Peter McGuinness was signed as the new coach. The season ended disappointingly in last place in the table.

2014 - Seventh season

After the disappointing 2013/14 season, the team was able to improve its performance in the new season and ended up in fifth place in the table. The team narrowly missed the playoffs, just one point behind fourth-placed Sydney FC .
