Angela Marguerite Salem (born July 24, 1988 in Akron , Ohio ) is an American soccer player who has been under contract with NWSL participant Portland Thorns FC since the 2018 season .

Salem began her career in 2009 in the W-League - Franchise of Virginia Beach Piranhas . From 2010 to 2011 she played for WPS participants Sky Blue FC and Atlanta Beat before moving to Åland United in the Finnish Naisten Liiga for a few months . After the dissolution of the WPS, Salem spent the 2012 season at Western New York Flash in the WPSL Elite and was there in each of the 16 season games. From autumn 2012 she ran for the Australian W-League representative Newcastle United Jets .

In February 2013, Salem was engaged in the second round of the Supplemental Draft at position 15 by the newly founded NWSL franchise of Flash. She made her league debut on April 14, 2013 against Sky Blue FC . In September 2014, Salem switched to Australian first division club Newcastle United Jets on loan until the end of the year , before joining the Washington Spirit for the 2015 season. With the Spirit she reached the play-offs for the first time in the history of the franchise, but they ended after the first game against Seattle Reign FC , a 3-0 defeat. For the 2016 season, Salem moved on to the Boston Breakers .
