Mark Parsons (* 8. August 1986 ) is an English football coach and -funktionär of since the season 2016 the Portland Thorns FC in the National Women's Soccer League trained. From 2013 to 2015 he previously worked as a trainer and manager at the Washington Spirit franchise .

Career

Trainer

Parsons held various positions at Chelsea Ladies from 2004 to 2010 , including two years as head coach of the Chelsea reserve team. Until 2012 he was the coach of DC United's female U-20s , which he led to the 2012 Super-20 League final, where they lost to the Colorado Rapids Women . In March 2013, he was appointed coach of the reserve team by the Washington Spirit franchise, and on July 1, after Mike Jorden's dismissal, he moved up as head coach of the NWSL team of Spirit. In 2014 and 2015 he finished fourth with the Spirit in the NWSL and thus reached the play-off semi-finals, which were lost both times against Seattle Reign FC . At the end of September 2015, he announced his retirement and was introduced a few days later as the new head coach of Portland Thorns FC.

Manager

On September 10, 2013, Parsons was appointed General Manager of Washington Spirit in addition to his coaching duties . In this position he succeeds Chris Hummer, who had resigned from his duties a few days earlier.
